OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are going to be Expensive!

OnePlus is finally going to launch their new OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro on 14th of April 2020. Leaks suggest that these phones are going to be very expensive as compared to the previous OnePlus devices. We can see a big price jump from the OnePlus 7T series.

First up, let’s go ahead and see what all the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are going to offer in terms of the specifications, camera, battery, etc.

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro Specifications

OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro seem to be pretty solid phones at least on paper. Here are the leaked specifications for OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro by famous leakster, Mr. Ishan Agarwal

First up let’s talk about the OnePlus 8 Pro. Snapdragon 865 Processor with 5G, 8GB or 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1 Storage. The display seems to be an upgrade over OnePlus 7T Pro. It is now going to be a 6.78″ QHD+ 120Hz Super AMOLED Display. I am really excited for the 120Hz AMOLED Display.

OnePlus 8 Pro Camera

As far as the cameras go, there seems to be a Quad-Camera setup on the rear side. 48MP Primary, 48MP Ultra-Wide, 8MP Telephoto and a 5MP Depth Sensor.

On the front side of things, there’s gonna be a 16MP Camera.

OnePlus 8 Pro Battery and Charging

The battery seems to be a 4510mAh battery with 30W Fast Charging, 30W Wireless Charging and 3W Reverse Wireless Charging too. So finally OnePlus is going to introduce wireless and reverse wireless charging in their devices.

The phone is also supposed to be IP68 Water Resistant which is a welcome upgrade.

OnePlus 8 Specifications & Display

So the OnePlus 8 seems to be a pretty solid upgrade over the OnePlus 7T. Snapdragon 865 Processor with 5G, 8GB or 12GB LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.0 Storage.

OnePlus is sticking to the higher refresh rate display which is excellent. The OnePlus 8 is supposed to come with a 6.55″ FHD+ 90Hz AMOLED Display.

OnePlus 8 Camera

As far as the cameras go, OnePlus is not going the 64MP route. They seem to be sticking with a 48MP Primary camera with a 16MP Ultra Wide Camera and a 2MP macro sensor. The selfie camera would be a 16MP shooter.

OnePlus 8 Battery and Charging

As far as the batter goes, OnePlus is gonna come with a 4300mAh Battery with 30W Warp Charge 30T which basically means 30W Fast charging.

OnePlus 8 won’t be getting wireless charging or an IP Rating as this device is going to be more budget friendly. It is still going to cost a lot more than OnePlus 7T because of the Snapdragon 865 Processor. Snapdragon 865 is an expensive processor.

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro Price

So the leaks suggest that the OnePlus 8 will come at a starting price of about ₹45,000 – ₹48,000(~USD 599) which is a huge jump from the ₹38,000 price at which OnePlus 7T was launched. Snapdragon 865 is a pretty expensive chipset and that’s one of the main reasons why these phones are going to be expensive.

OnePlus 8 Pro is supposed to start at around ₹62,000 – ₹65,000(~USD 849) which is insane. These new OnePlus phones will no longer be budget friendly devices. They are premium smartphones with a premium price and that is pretty clear. So these new OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will directly compete with the flagships from Apple, Samsung and Google.
