Realme Watch 2 Launched: A Worthy Upgrade?

As Realme has been quite enterprising and ambitious in diversifying their consumer electronics portfolio worldwide, they have been attempting firmly enough to release numerous products under IoT quite regularly. In addition to the value-driven smartphones, the company also embraces some good audio products and wearables under their product category. 

Widening their radius of smart-electronics, Realme has announced their second iteration of Realme Watch- the Realme Watch 2. Let us explore, quite briefly, the specifications, price and features of Realme’s newly released Watch 2.

Realme Watch 2 Overview:

Design & Display

Realme Watch 2 is built around a squared-body design, the build of which is pretty identical to its predecessor. It weighs around 38 grams and measures 12.2mm thick. The watch is painted in black and sustains interchangeable straps. Straps, however, is now stamped with the “Dare to Leap” branding in a big glossy font (which some people may find infuriating). Realme Watch 2 does maintains IP68-rating for dust and water resistance.

Now addressing the display, it is a 1.4-inch 320 x 320 pixels LCD panel. It is moderately bright and caps at 600nits of brightness. Sadly enough, the display bears some thick bezels, this time with no Realme logo at the front. The display is kept intact within the plastic chassis. It is further protected by an extra layer of Gorilla Glass 3 protection.



Since the display is an LCD panel, the watch will not entertain the “Always On Display” feature. Realme Watch 2 is available in only one colour variant- black.

Fitness & Feature

The sensors on-board, Realme Watch 2, are equipped with three fitness sensors: a 3-axis accelerometer, a SpO2 monitor, and a PPG Heart rate monitor, respectively. These sensors enable you to periodically measure your heart rate, calculate the blood oxygen level, and notify you of any anomalies. Realme Watch 2 also supports sleep monitoring.

At the moment, Realme Watch 2 attributes 14 different sport modes, including an outdoor walking mode, basketball, yoga, indoor walking, and an outdoor running mode. A future OTA is promised to bring about 90 different sport modes in total.

The Realme Watch 2, like any other Realme accessories, can be paired with the Realme Link app for extensive features and customisation. For example, you can whirl around 100 different watch-faces in the Realme Link app until you find the one that suits your taste.

Apart from it, Realme Watch 2 also supports AIoT controls. The users can remotely control different smart devices and appliances directly from the smartwatch.

Battery & Connectivity

The Realme Watch 2 is linked to your phone via a Bluetooth 5.0 connection. It does not, however, maintains an in-built GPS for tracking. So, users have to rely on the phone’s GPS for location and tracking.

Realme Watch 2 is powered by a 312mAh battery (which is quite an upgrade over the previous 160mAh cell). The watch is advertised to endure up to 12 days of usage. Furthermore, Realme Watch 2 comes with a dual-pin magnetic charger for top-up charging.

Price & Availability

Realme Watch 2 is launched in Malaysia at the price tag of MYR 229 (~$55). Even though it is not official, we may see Realme Watch 2 launch in India alongside Realme X7.
