Top 5 TWS Earphones under ₹5000 in India [August 2020]

True Wireless Earphones

Today’s audio market is highly saturated with the wireless ones. The True Wireless Stereo- TWS earphones have been getting a lot of popularity ever since the release of Apple AirPods. They have proven to be easy, comfortable and fashionable at the same time. The common demography of people seems to use TWS earphones for its ease of use, minimality and design.

About audio? During the first wave of TWS popularity, nobody seemed to care much. After the hangover of new design trend was over, people noticed audio quality. And things have changed now; audio quality is contemplated. The manufacturing companies and their R&D departments have realized the subject. And we have gotten so far that we even have TWS earphones with Active Noise Cancellation chips integrated within. But truth be told, wired earphones and full-blown headphones are quite unmatched in terms of audio quality until now. Whilst, TWS brings in that new dimension of ease- the stimulation, every common user seems to be upgrading to them.

How do they work?

In 3.5mm aux jack, they have three to four divisions. Each segment under the division connects to a separate wire on the cord. Each wire coil leads to the magnet drivers inside each of the buds. When connected to a phone, your right ear and left ear is sent a different stream of electricity thus producing a distinctive channel of sound. Hence, stereo.

But in Bluetooth, that is not the case. The audio streamed via Bluetooth is mono-signal, so the two channels would actually play the same concentrated audio. In order to overcome this, TWS grew to become a clever technique. TWS works on the principle of Master-Slave connection. First of all, your device sends both channels of audio to a single earbud (master). It then plays its channel while transmitting the other channel to second earbud (slave) simultaneously, thereby, producing an stereo audio.

PlayGO T44 are really good in terms of battery life, call quality, build and design. When it comes to the sound, I would rate them 7.5 out of 10. 4. Mi True Wireless Earphones 2

Coming in at number 4 are the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2. Xiaomi launched these earphones a couple of months ago and people have had mixed feelings about them. Some folks loved these TWS by Xiaomi and some just straight up didn’t like them. If you ask my opinion, Mi TWS 2 are good but there’s definitely room for improvement.

Mi True Wireless earphones 2 are super convenient because of the smart features like wear detection, smart pairing, auto re-connection etc. But the sound quality is just okay. One can buy these earphones for answering calls, video calls or for light music listening. If you are a hard core music person, then I wouldn’t recommend these earphones to you.

3. Realme Buds Air

Realme was one of the first brands to introduce a great pair of TWS earphones in India with the Realme Buds Air. I have been using the Buds Air for over 6 months now, and they are really good in a lot of aspects. Also, a lot (and I mean A LOT) of people that I meet have confused these earbuds with Apple’s Airpods because of the striking resemblance.

Anyway, Realme Buds are great in terms of sound quality. The sound is well balanced, with a good amount of bass and very good separation as well. Overall sound stage is really good for the price. These earbuds get surprisingly loud as well. Hence, no issues in terms of sound. Cons of Realme Buds air are battery life and call quality. Battery life is not that great and same goes for the call quality.

Bonus points to Realme Buds Air because of support for wireless charging.

OnePlus entered the TWS market pretty late, but boy did they enter with a bang. OnePlus Buds are their first attempt at a pair of TWS earphones and I think that OnePlus has done an excellent job. For the price of ₹4,990 these earbuds from OnePlus offer a lot of great things.

OnePlus Buds are great in terms of sound quality and especially the bass. These have a punchy bass, decent mids and highs and overall a good sound stage. One place where these earbuds are really good is in terms of Battery Life. Battery life is excellent on the OnePlus Buds and cheery on the cake over here is fast charging.
