Xiaomi announced their Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 in India after months of its official unveiling in China. It was one of the main highlights of the launch-event after Mi 10, a flagship smartphone.
It is the first entry of Mi True Wireless Earphones into Indian market, since it’s first iteration was not available. With this launch, it seems obvious Xiaomi is looking forward to launch more gadgets alongside smartphones in India. This is an absolute addition for gadget lovers.
Design and Build
In terms of design, the earbuds follow half in-ear design. The design seems fairly good. The extending legs of the earbuds are small but a little bulky. The earbuds are expected to be comfortable to wear as they are designed to properly fit into the ear-canals, providing more ease and stability. Xiaomi says that they have optimized the shape of the earphone by mapping millions of ears in simulation.
While the case of the earbuds has a rectangular design with curved sides, both the earbuds and the case look really minimal and good.
Sound Quality
The Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 feature a 14.2mm audio drivers. Unlike the previous generation which had 7mm NdFeb magnet driver, these earbuds should provide richer experience. It can connect up to Bluetooth 5.0. The earbuds also support LHDC Hi-Res audio codec for HD sound quality along with AAC and SBC codecs.
The earphones house dual-microphone with company’s noise reduction technology (cancelling the environment noise up to 30db). To state it again, the noise reduction is for microphones not the earbuds. It is claimed to have high-definition voice recognition and call quality.
The company says, the Mi True Wireless earphones are specially tweaked to optimize the sound for Indian audience, which is yet to be tested.
Features
The earphones come with virtual buttons for controls. The buttons support music playback control, call control and AI/voice assistance. Unlike the previous version, TWS 2 has touch controls, which is very convenient, seamless and do not pressure the ear.
For the control features, touching right earbud two times plays/pauses the music and touching the left one activates the voice assistant. You can touch either of earbuds to pick or hang up the calls. You can also use only one earbud at a time, as the earphones can sift to mono audio.
Like the Realme buds, the Mi True Wireless Earphones have proximity sensor, which automatically pauses the music once it detects the earbuds being removed from ear. The music plays again once you plug them back to the ears.
Wireless Range and Latency
The Bluetooth range of the earphones is 10meters. Xiaomi says the latency of the earbuds is about 250ms which makes it good for the entertainment and basic games. But you can expect some lags during real-time gaming.
Battery Backup
In terms of battery backup, the earbuds can last up to 4 hours on single charge. With the chagrining case, you can juice your earbuds to provide an extra 10 hours of backup. Xiaomi has gone with USB Type-C for charging. The case can charge in about 1 hours.
